Thumbs up Rescue 8 use, and throw technique

Rescue 8, how it works and throw technique

Rescue 8 model U is a non passive automaric gripping flotation device. It is made to grip a person when it is around them under their arms and the tow line is pulled. It closes automatically; the person would be facing the curve of the noodle. They then can be pulled to safety with the tow rope.

The properties of the noodle are such that it is unadversely afected by cold temperatures above 15 degrees below zero per manufactorer description.
The eather foam as a noodle was placed in a freezer for three days by me,and did not even feel cold when removed. Freezer temp was 25 degrees.

Throwing R8 is most effective if the thrower is facing sideways to the target. The rope is coiled in the non throwing hand, and the throw hand holds the loop end of the U, which is at this point an (n) shape to the thrower. The arm should be outstreached from the shoulder. Then, with a body twist backward and quick reverce you throw and release with the hand pointing at the target. The throw is simular to throwing a grenade, but not overhand, but side arm.

It will take practice to get it rilght.

Good throwing: Dave.
